Chamonix
Located in the French Alps, Chamonix offers a true French mountain experience with world class skiing and snowboarding, stunning hiking, old Savoyard culture, and of course unforgettable views. The town sits at the foot of Mont-Blanc, the tallest mountain in Europe reaching 4810m, 15,781ft. The amazing views will blow you away!
Les Bois - Les Praz is the starting point for the cable car up to La Flégère, which is well known for skiing and snowboarding in winter or hiking and mountain biking in summer. Chamonix serves as an ideal playground for almost all types of outdoor activity, especially their more extreme variants, such as ice climbing, rock climbing, extreme skiing, paragliding, rafting, and canyoning.
Since the 18th century, Chamonix and the Mont-Blanc Massif have been a popular summer holiday destination, developing into a winter holiday destination from 1903. In 1924 Chamonix hosted the first Winter Olympics.
Mont Blanc, at a height of 4,810 metres, is the third most visited natural site in the world. This lends the area a notably cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Chamonix Mont-Blanc is situated at 88km from Geneva-Cointrin International airport.
